Established in 2021, The Heart of Hearing is the only nonprofit organization in Middle Tennessee that offers hearing aids and accompanying audiologist appointments, free to charge, to young professionals in need.
What are hearing aids?
Hearing aids are devices designed to improve hearing by making sound audible to a person with hearing loss. While the cost can vary for a pair of hearing aids, the average price tag is $2,000, which is not a one-time cost as they need to be replaced every few years.
Why hearing loss matters.
Hearing loss affects over 430 million people worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, impacting communication, education, employment and social engagement.
